(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's basketball celebrated Senior Day when they hosted UM-Dearborn on Saturday. The Cardinals honored their graduating senior members prior to the game: Abeal Ayalew, Jason Riske, and Zach Burk. CUAA looked to end their season with a win, but UM-Dearborn came away with the 78-60 win.
Matt Kohler led the team with 17 points. Devyn Jones finished second with 14 points. Kip French came in third with 8 points. Matt Kohler and Matt Lockhart tied for a team-high 6 rebounds.
Devyn Jones had Concordia's first basket with a layup. Zach Burk had two early free throws and both Jones and Zac Clark added layups. Matt Lockhart and Matt Kohler both scored and Jayden Priddy hit a short jumpshot to cut the deficit to 16-14. After another layup from Kohler CUAA trailed 21-16 near the midway point.
Matt Kohler ended a scoring drought with a triple from the corner. Devyn Jones chipped in two free throws and Kohler hit another 3-pointer from the same spot. Jones spun in the lane and drew contact to complete an "and-1", but CUAA trailed 35-27 at halftime.
Kip French had Concordia's first second-half basket with a jumper. Matt Lockhart and Devyn Jones scored inside but UM-Dearborn continued to make their baskets as well. Matt Kohler and Evan Neff knocked down triples and D'Angelo Stoxstill scored a layup.
CUAA put together a 7-0 run later in the half which was capped by an offensive putback by Abeal Ayalew. Kip French knocked down a 3-pointer and Devyn Jones converted an old-fashioned three-point play. Abeal Ayalew added a late steal and a layup, but UM-Dearborn claimed the 78-60 win.
