Men's Basketball tops Siena Heights 66-60

(Adrian, MI) – Concordia men's basketball played a rivalry game at Siena Heights on Monday night.  The Cardinals looked to pick up a critical win to move towards a WHAC playoff spot.  CUAA was able to grind out an important win in a 66-60 victory over their rival.

Jayden Priddy led Concordia with 15 points.  Colton Ritsema and Matt Lockhart tied for second place with 12 points each.  Zac Clark was also in double figures with 11 points.  Devyn Jones and Matt Lockhart tied for a team-high 7 rebounds.

 

Kip French opened scoring with a jumper.  Jayden Priddy made an early 3-pointer and French added a jumper in transition.  Matt Lockhart and Zac Clark got on the scoresheet with layups and Priddy notched another triple for a 14-13 lead.  D'Angelo Stoxstill drained two free throws for an 18-15 advantage at the midway point of the half.

The lead continued to shift in a tight game with Zac Clark scoring two free throws and a layup.  Devyn Jones added free throws and Colton Ritsema knocked down a 3-pointer late in the half.  After a basket from Matt Lockhart the Cardinals trailed 35-33 at halftime.

 

Colton Ritsema tied the game with a basket in the paint and hit a go-ahead triple.  Matt Lockhart scored inside and Jayden Priddy made 3 free throws after being fouled behind the arc.  Lockhart spun in the lane and scored, Devyn Jones made a layup, and a deep jumper from D'Angelo Stoxstill tied the game 51-51 with 10 minutes to go.

Matt Lockhart drained a deep 3-pointer and Kip French added a jumpshot.  Zac Clark and Jayden Priddy made layups as the Cardinals continued to hold a lead down the stretch.  Colton Ritsema made a jumpshot as well, but Siena Heights trimmed Concordia's lead to 62-60 in the final minutes.  Jayden Priddy made a key layup and two free throws from Kip French secured the 66-60 win.

 

Concordia will return home this Wednesday, February 9 to host Lourdes at 7:30pm.
