Men's Lacrosse falls in close contest with Tennessee Wesleyan

(Crestview Hills, KY) – Concordia men's lacrosse faced off against Tennessee Wesleyan on Tuesday at the neutral site of Thomas More University. The Cardinals looked to even their record while the Bulldogs came in 4-1. CUAA erased a 5-goal deficit to tie the game 8-8, but TWU came out on top with a narrow 10-9 win.

 

Sam Bowling started in goal for Concordia, recording 12 saves. Noah Sorenson opened scoring in the game, but the Bulldogs countered with 4 straight goals to lead 4-1 after the first quarter.

Back-to-back markers by Andrew Simmons pulled the Cardinals closer with Blake Blaisdell and Marcus Villagomez drawing the assists. TWU answered with 3 more goals to take a 7-3 lead at halftime.

The Bulldogs scored first in the third quarter, but Andrew Simmons completed his hat trick to start a 5-0 run. Marcus Villagomez added a powerplay goal and Travis Wright scored 2 straight markers. CUAA trailed 8-7 after the third quarter.

Andrew Simmons tied the game with his 4th goal of the contest. The Bulldogs would score 2 more goals to retake the lead, but a Joseph Cady marker kept hope alive. Concordia threatened in the final minutes but TWU came away with the 10-9 win.

 

Concordia will play their next game at William Penn on March 14 at 5pm.
