Men's Lacrosse falls at rival Siena Heights

(Adrian, MI) – Concordia men's lacrosse faced off at rival Siena Heights on Wednesday night for a WHAC contest. The Cardinals jumped out to a quick start with a 5-2 lead, but the Saints eventually came back for a 12-8 win.

Travis Wright led the team with 5 goals in the game. Luke Hovarter, Patrick Broderick, and Sam Bowling tied for a team-high 3 ground balls.

 

Sam Bowling played a complete game in goal, notching 18 saves. Travis Wright opened scoring just 24 seconds into the contest. The Saints answered with 2 goals but Wright countered with his second marker of the game. Noah Sorenson added a tally and Travis Wright finished his hat trick with 2:29 left in the quarter. CUAA led 4-2 after the 1st.

Travis Wright continued his stellar day with his 4th goal in the second quarter. Siena Heights pulled closer with two goals but Wright converted again after running around the net and scoring. However, the Saints rallied to tie the game 6-6 heading into halftime.

 

Evan Stuart fired a low shot in the net to retake the lead in the third quarter. Siena Heights responded with 4 unanswered goals and CUAA trailed 10-7 after the 3rd.

Blake Blaisdell scored to open the fourth quarter, pulling the Cardinals within 2 goals. However, the Saints were able to clamp down defensively for the rest of the game and secured a 12-8 win as time expired.

 

Concordia will play their next game at Lawrence Tech this Saturday at 2pm.
