Men's Lacrosse falls in close contest with Lourdes

 (Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's lacrosse hosted Lourdes on Saturday afternoon in a WHAC conference match.  The Cardinals held the lead or kept the game tied throughout the third quarter, but Lourdes pulled away late for a 14-11 win.

Ryan Iles led Concordia with 4 goals.  Evan Stuart came in second with 3 goals.  Andrew Simmons had a team-high 4 ground balls.

 

Sam Bowling started in net, recording 15 saves in the contest.  Blake Blaisdell started the game off with a goal and then assisted on a Marcus Villagomez strike within the first minute.  Lourdes broke the shutout but Ryan Iles countered with his first marker of the game.  Marcus Villagomez scored his second goal and Evan Stuart found the back of the net to give CUAA a 5-3 lead after the first quarter.

Evan Stuart fired a quick shot to put the Cardinals ahead 6-4 in the second quarter.  Ryan Iles added his second goal of the game, but the Gray Wolves fought back to tie the match 7-7 heading into halftime.

 

Noah Sorenson scored in the first minute of the third quarter to put the Cardinals back on top.  After Lourdes tied the game, Evan Stuart completed his hat trick with a rip from the left side on the power play.  However, Lourdes led 12-9 after the third quarter.

Lourdes continued their run with 2 more goals in the fourth quarter.  Ryan Iles responded by completing his hat trick and added a team-high 4th goal with Evan Stuart drawing the assist.  The Cardinals swarmed the opposing net late in the game, but Lourdes held on for the 14-11 win.

 

Concordia will remain home this Wednesday, March 30, to host Cleary at 4pm.
