Men's Lacrosse falls in home finale to #2 Indiana Tech

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's lacrosse held their home finale on a sunny Saturday afternoon against Indiana Tech. The Warriors came in a perfect 13-0 with an 8-0 WHAC record. CUAA stayed close as they looked to pull the upset, but Indiana Tech pulled away for a 20-10 win.

Andrew Simmons led the Cardinals with 5 goals. Blake Blaisdell had a team-leading 5 assists while tying Travis Wright with 2 goals apiece. Sam Saje had a team-high 12 ground balls. Noah Sorenson led the team with 3 caused turnovers.

 

Sam Bowling played a complete game in net, making 14 saves. Indiana Tech came out strong, scoring the first 5 goals of the game. The first Concordia marker came off the stick of Blake Blaisdell, putting the team down 5-1 after the first quarter.

Andrew Simmons snapped a quick shot in front of the net off a feed from Blaisdell to open the second quarter. Both teams traded goals and Simmons completed his hat trick with assists from Blaisdell and Evan Stuart. Travis Wright added a marker to pull the Cardinals within 2 goals, but CUAA would trail 9-5 at halftime.

 

The Cardinals continued battling as Blake Blaisdell scored off a one-timer from Noah Sorenson. Andrew Simmons then tallied his 4th goal of the game on a similar pass from Blaisdell. Simmons and Blaisdell connected again for his 5th marker of the contest as Concordia continued their upset bid. However, three late goals by the Warriors put them ahead 13-8 after the 3rd.

Indiana Tech continued to build their lead with 5 unanswered scores until Evan Stuart stopped the run with a powerplay goal assisted by Travis Wright. Wright added a late powerplay goal off a feed from Noah Sorenson as well, but Indiana Tech took the win by a score of 20-10.
