Men's Lacrosse downs Taylor 20-7

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's lacrosse hosted Taylor on Saturday afternoon for a WHAC matchup. The Cardinals picked up their second WHAC win of the year with a solid offensive performance in a 20-7 victory.

Andrew Simmons led the team with 5 goals. Ryan Iles finished a close second with 4 goals. Marcus Villagomez and Travis Wright each recorded a hat trick as well. Sam Saje led the Cardinals with 12 ground balls. Cameron Dixon and Jacob Greenway tied for a team-high 2 caused turnovers.

 

Sam Bowling started in net for the Cardinals, making 11 saves. Taylor jumped out to a 2-0 lead until Travis Wright scored for the first Concordia goal. A quick strike from Andrew Simmons tied the game 2-2. Both Wright and Simmons notched their second tallies of the game and Ryan Iles converted as well. CUAA held a 5-3 lead after the first quarter.

Noah Sorenson scored to open the second quarter for the Cardinals. A high shot from Ryan Iles went in the net for his second goal of the game. Andrew Simmons finished his hat trick by slipping a shot in the net with Blake Blaisdell assisting. Ryan Iles completed his hat trick as well and Marcus Villagomez added a late powerplay goal with Evan Stuart drawing the helper. CUAA led 10-5 at halftime.

 

Aldo Hans scored in front of the net for Concordia to open the third quarter. Travis Wright finished off his hat trick by firing a shot through traffic and in. Andrew Simmons notched his fourth marker of the game and Blake Blaisdell got on the scoresheet with a goal. Simmons' team-high fifth goal of the game gave CUAA a 15-5 lead after the third quarter.

Blake Blaisdell scored his second goal of the game to open the fourth quarter. Marcus Villagomez tallied and Ryan Iles recorded his fourth goal of the match. Jackson Saleh played goalie for the final 6:24 of the game, making 1 save. Villagomez finished off his hat trick and Noah Sorenson notched his second tally to conclude scoring in the contest. CUAA claimed the 20-7 win as time expired.

 

Concordia will play their next game on Wednesday, April 13 when they travel to rival Siena Heights at 7pm.
