Men's Lacrosse tops #10 Lawrence Tech in conference win

(Southfield, MI) – Concordia men's lacrosse traveled to Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon for a WHAC matchup.  The Cardinals earned their 3rd conference win of the season with a solid performance in a 10-6 win.

Blake Blaisdell and Travis Wright each recorded hat tricks in the game.  Sam Saje had a team-high 9 ground balls.  Luke Hovarter led the team with 4 caused turnovers.

 

Sam Bowling played a complete game in net, making 21 saves.  Travis Wright notched the game's first goal just over a minute into the contest.  Ryan Iles then struck for a marker to put the Cardinals up 2-0.  The Blue Devils scored on the powerplay to break the shutout, but CUAA still held a 2-1 lead after the first quarter.

Blake Blaisdell tallied to open scoring in the second quarter.  Noah Sorenson recorded a powerplay goal and Blaisdell tacked on his second of the game with Marcus Villagomez drawing the assist.  Ryan Iles and Travis Wright each recorded their second goals of the game to complete a 5-0 run for Concordia.  The Blue Devils got two goals back, but CUAA held a 7-3 lead at halftime.

 

Andrew Simmons tallied off an assist from Noah Sorenson to open the third quarter.  Both teams continued to trade goals with Blake Blaisdell finishing off his hat trick.  Travis Wright completed his hat trick as well with Evan Stuart drawing the helper.  CUAA led 10-5 after the third quarter.

Concordia settled down defensively in the fourth quarter, successfully killing off two penalties.  While the Blue Devils added one goal, the Cardinals secured the 10-6 victory as time expired.

 

Concordia will return home to host rival Madonna this Wednesday, April 20 at 4pm.
