Men's Soccer comes up short at St. Francis (IN)

(Fort Wayne, IN) – Concordia men's soccer traveled to Saint Francis on Wednesday night for a non-conference clash. The Cardinals battled hard and matched the Cougars in the second half, but the team fell 6-2.

 

Kyri Wixom played a complete game in net, making 3 saves. Saint Francis struck first in the game and scored 4 totals goals in the period. Alexander Valencia had the first shot on goal for the Cardinals and both Nicholas Kiafoulis and Bryce Schaner generated corner kicks. Angel Elizondo sent a shot just wide with 10 seconds to play, but CUAA trailed 4-0 at halftime.

Saint Francis tacked on two more goals in the second half. The Cardinals came alive in the last 10 minutes of the game, starting when Diego Rivas found the back of the net with Nichlos Kiafoulis assisting. Elijah Macke added an unassisted marker with just under 4 minutes to play. Despite the late surge in momentum, the Cardinals fell 6-2 as time expired.

 

Concordia will travel to Alma this Sunday, September 3 for a 1pm contest.
