(Ann Arbor, MI) – The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their player of the week honors Monday afternoon and Men's Track and Field athlete Scott Smith took home the first WHAC honors of his career. 

Smith, a sophomore from Saginaw, Michigan, earned honors following a strong showing at the Bill Bippes Classic where he took home a first-place finish in the javelin throw. In the javelin event, Scott had his top mark of 41.24 meters (135' 4") in his third throw of the day. Smith also competed in the Shot Put event where he threw 11.62 meters (38' 1.5") which was good enough for an 11th-place finish.

Smith and the Track and Field teams will be back in action this weekend as they will be competing at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational on Saturday with events beginning at 12 PM.
