WHAC PREVIEW: Men's Track and Field set to compete at the WHAC Championships

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals men's track and field team is set for competition at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) outdoor conference meet this week as they head to Siena Heights.

FIELD EVENTS

Cardinal throwers will compete in four different events over the event as we will see athletes in the Shot Put, Discus, Hammer, and Javelin. 

 

The Shot Put event will see Zachary Belinsky and Scott Smith come into the event with throws of 12.27 meters and 11.71 meters respectively.

 

Will Hall will be the sole competitor for the Cardinals in the Discus event with a season-high of 39.77 meters. 

 

Competing in the Hammer Throw will be Belinsky and Hall as they have throws of 41.75 meters and 41.31 meters respectively. 

 

The final field event that will see the Cardinals will be the Javelin. Scott Smith will lead the trio of athletes with a throw of 46.38 meters. The other two Cardinals will be Michael Brannan and Mason Wylis who enter with throws of 36.81 meters and 34.61 meters respectively. 

 


TRACK EVENTS

Nine-track events will feature several different Cardinals as there will also be three relay teams. Concordia will have runners participate in the 100m, 200m, 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m, and the 3,000m steeplechase. The relay teams will participate in the 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, and 4x800m. 

 

The Cardinals will have three different runners in the 100-meter dash as they will see Kash Warren, Moe Kado, and Ethan Dodson compete. Warren leads the trio with a time of 10.86, while Kado and Doson follow with times of 11.28 and 11.39 respectively. 

 

Those three Cardinals will also compete in the 200-meter dash as well as Noah Starkey. Warren once again leads the group sitting at a time of 22.03 and Starkey is not far behind at 22.21. Kado and Dodson have times of 23.50 and 23.87 respectively. 

 

Four new runners will compete in the 800-meter run for the Cardinals as Luke Bentz, Zak Schroeder, Michael Brannan, and Jared Stiver will all run the race. Bentz and Schroeder lead the pack with times of 2:00.57 and 2:04.58 respectively. Brannan and Stiver's times are at 2:14.63 and 2:26.76 respectively. 

 

The 1,500-meter run will have Theodore Eising take part in the race. He has a time of 4:19.10 on the season. 

 

The sole runner for the Cardinals in the 5,000-meter run will be Adam Fisch entering with a seed time of 17:45.15 on the year. 

 

The final individual race will have Avery Sanchez taking part in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as he will come in with a time of 10:49.74. 

 

The 4x100-meter relay team will consist of Starkey, Warren, Kado, and Doson as they have previously run a time of 42.44 last weekend at the CUAA Legacy Meet. 

 

The 4x800-meter relay will be new to the Cardinals this season as they have not run it at a meet this spring and will see Eising, Sanchez, Schroeder, and Bentz compete. 

 

The final race of the event will be the 4x400-meter relay as the team of Schroeder, Starkey, Dodson, and Bentz will run once again together as they enter with a time of 3:31.6.
