Warren records school records in 100m and 200m as Men's Track and Field performs strong at Don Kleinow Invitational

(Adrian, MI) - Concordia Track and Field competed at the Don Kleinow Invitational at Siena Heights on Friday, April 14. The team had strong performances through rough heat and long meet day.

 

 

Senior Kash Warren (Lorain, OH) led the way for the men's team by breaking the school record in both the 100 and 200 meter dash. Warren set the 100m school record at 10.89 seconds and took full control of the 200m record with a time of 22.16 seconds. Warren earned an NCCAA qualification mark with a finish in the 200m dash.

 

 

A couple more personal records were set in both of those races. As freshman Ethan Dodson (Rochester Hills, MI) set a new personal record of 11.63 meters in the 100m. Sophomore Moe Kado (Beachwood, OH) also earned a new personal record with a time of 11.37 seconds. Dodson joined Warren in the 200 meter dash, along with junior Noah Starkey (Macomb, MI).  Dodson finished in a time of 23.87 which is a new collegiate mark, while Starkey ran a new personal record time of 22.33 seconds. Starkey also competed in the 400 meter dash where he finished in a time of 52.22 seconds. Starkey, Kado, Warren and Dodson combined for a fifth place finish in the 4x100 meter relay and a time of 43.05 seconds.

 

 

The distance races were opened and capped by two strong performances. Senior Avery Sanchez (Allen park, MI) started the day off by dropping a new personal record of 10:49 in the 3000m steeplechase. Freshman Adam Fisch (Caro, MI) finished the meet off with a personal best time of 17:45 in the 5000m race. Sophomore Luke Bentz (Fort Wayne, IN) and Junior Jared Stiver both ran personal best times in the 800m race. Bentz finished in 2:02, while Stiver finished in 2:33. Theodore Eising (Royal Oak, MI) made his outdoor debut for the season in the 1500m. Eising ended up finishing in 4:19.

 

Out in the field events, senior Zachary Belinsky (Beulah, MI) was able to punch his ticket to NCCAAs with a toss of 41.75m, and personal best, in the hammer throw. Belinsky also competed in the discus throw, throwing 34.46m. Freshman William Hall (Indianapolis, IN) took home a personal best in the hammer throw, throwing 34.19m. Hall also threw 28.31m in the javelin throw. Fellow javelin throwers included Michael Brannan (Westland, MI) and Mason Wyllis (Holt, MI). Brannan and Wyllis threw for 36.12m and 31.19m, respectively.
