NCCAA PREVIEW: Men's Track & Field competing at the NCCAA Championships this week

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Men's Track and Field teams head to Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. 

 

The men's team will have 10 athletes compete at the Championships this week in a multitude of events. Two athletes will see time in the field events with everyone else heading to the track. 

 

Zachary Belinsky qualified for the Hammer Throw with a personal record of 41.75 meters at the Don Kleinow Memorial Invitational in April. His throw is the 12th-best in the NCCAA this season. 

 

William Hall is the only other Cardinal men's thrower that will be competing at the event as he will be throwing in both the Hammer Throw and the Discus. Hall sits in 13th place in the NCCAA with a Hammer toss of 41.31 meters at the CUAA Legacy Meet. In the discus event, he qualified with a toss of 39.77 meters at the Bill Bippes Cougar Classic and also sits in 13th place in this event.

 

Senior Kash Warren will be competing in both the 100 meters and 200-meter dash this weekend as well as be a part of the 4x100-meter relay team. Warren, who holds the school record in both events, enters with the 11th-best time in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.86 seconds. In the 200-meter dash, Warren's time of 21.85 is the seventh-best in the NCCAA this season. 

 

Noah Starkey will run in one individual race, which is the 200-meter dash, and will also run in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter races as well. Starkey's time in the 200-meter dash is the 14th-best time in the NCCAA. 

 

The last individual event for the Cardinals will see Luke Bentz run in the 800-meter run. Bentz ran in the 800 at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championships last weekend and finished with a time of 1:59.93, which is the 29th-best in the NCCAA. Bentz will also run in the 4x400-meter relay and the 4x800-meter relay. 

 

Three relay teams will take part in the Championships this weekend with teams in the 4x100, 4x400, and 4x800 races. 

 

The 4x100 meter relay will see Warren, Starkey, Ethan Dodson, and Maurice Kado run. This team has a previous best of 42.44 at the Concordia Legacy Meet. This time sits fifth in the NCCAA. 

 

The 4x400-meter relay sees Starkey, Dodson, Bentz, and Zak Schroeder. This team has the 11th-best time in the NCCAA at 3:28.69 which was run at the WHAC Championships last weekend. 

 

The final relay of the event will see Schroeder, Bentz, Avery Sanchez, and Theodore Eising all run in the 4x800-meter race. They have the fifth-best time in the NCCAA at 8:20.04, which they ran at the WHAC Championships last week.
