Men's Track & Field set's PR's in Sprint events

(Rochester, MI) – The Men's Track and Field team competed at the Golden Grizzly Invitational at Oakland University on Saturday, April 9.

The team started the day seeing good performances in the 100 meter with two personal records, one by junior Noah Starkey (Macomb, MI) with a time of 11.38 seconds. The other came from freshman Ethan Dodson (Rochester Hills, MI) with a time of 11.78 seconds. Graduate senior Kash Warren (Lorain, OH) and sophomore Maurice Kado (Beachwood, OH) both ran fast times of 11.17 and 11.47. Warren was able to qualify for the finals, where he finished in 7th place with a time of 11.39 seconds.

Kado also competed in the 200-meter dash, where finished in a time of 23.89 seconds. Starkey competed in the 400 with a time of 52.47 seconds.

In distance events, senior Avery Sanchez (Allen Park, MI) and freshman Adam Fisch (Caro, MI) both made their collegiate debut in multiple events. Fisch started the running events off by making his outdoor 800-meter debut with a time of 2:23. He then returned to make his 1500-meter debut at the end of the meet and finished in a time of 4:56. Sanchez started his day off by debuting in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:06. He also then made his debut in the 1500 and finished in a time of 4:44.

In field events, it was a good day for freshman William Hall (Indianapolis, IN) who had personal records in Javelin and Hammar. Hall had throws of 25.58 meters and 33.36 meters. Hall also competed in Discus where he threw a distance of 38.69 meters.

Also competing in throwing events were Zachary Belinsky (Beulah, MI) and Scott Smith (Saginaw, MI). Belinsky competed in shot put, hammer, and discus. Belinsky had throws of:  33.31 meters in discus, 39.38 meters in the hammer, and 12.27 meters in the shot put.

Sophomore Scott Smith competed in the shot put and javelin. Smith led the way in the javelin with a throw of 36.30 meters. While he had a throw of 10.98 meters in the shot put.

The team will enjoy the Easter holiday before gearing up for their trip to Sienna Heights on Friday, April 14 for the Don Kleinow Invitational.
