Women's Golf competes at the WHAC Fall Preview

(Farmington Hills, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals headed back to the course over the past two days to compete at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Fall Preview. The tournament featured all twelve teams in the WHAC, with Rochester not fielding a full team. The Cardinals would finish in 11th on the day. 

 

The event saw teams back through one round of stroke play before rounds of match play to determine the top team. 

 

CUAA RECAP

Two Cardinals finished tied on the team's leaderboard as Callie Wabeke and Rachel Yuhas would each shoot an 86 in the round, which would be tied for 21st at the event. Finishing three strokes behind them was Elle Fritcha with the 89. Amelia Balck and Lilly Alaspa would round up the golfers for CUAA with scores of 100 and 105 respectively.  

 

CUAA MATCH PLAY RECAP

The first round of match play saw the Cardinals go up against Indiana Tech, before falling 3.5-1.5. The Cardinals would get a point from Lilly Alaspa and their half-point from Amelia Black

 

The Cardinals would then go up against Rochester in the third and final round and would win 5-0. 

 

TOURNAMENT RECAP

Taking the top spot in the individual stroke play was Sharifah Binyahya from Northwestern Ohio as she would shoot a score of 73 on the day. 

 

The team that finished in first the tournament was Northwestern Ohio as they upended Lawrence Tech 3.5-1.5 in the Championship match. 

 

NEXT UP

The Cardinals will round out the fall schedule in two weeks when they compete at the Harbor Shores Intercollegiate on October 16 and 17 at the Harbor Shores Resort in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
