Women's Indoor Track and Field kickstarts season at Oiler Open

(Findlay, OH) Concordia women's track and field launched the indoor season at the Oiler Open hosted by Findlay University on Friday in Findlay, Ohio. 

 

The Cardinals saw two national qualifying marks for the women's track and field team in a meet featuring strong NCAA DII competition.

 

In her collegiate opener, freshman Lena Korte (Clinton, MI) threw 11.51m in the shot put, taking down the previous school record. This mark also earned her a spot at the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) indoor championships meet. Korte also competed in the weight throw, tossing 11.18m alongside fellow freshman Quinn Stefanski (Munger, MI). Stefanski threw the weight to a mark of 8.64m.

 

Junior Sierra Stechebar (Rockford, MI) took 4th in the high jump. Her top jump of 1.47m punched her ticket to the NCCAA championships meet.

 

On the track, senior Lydia Schroeder (Napoleon, OH) took 2nd in the 800m race, running 2:50.40. Sprinters Hope Renfer (Junior; Northville, MI), Madelyn Ankoviak (Freshman; Sanford, MI) and Aaliyah McIntosh (Sophomore; Chesterfield, MI) all competed in the 60m dash together. The trio ran 8.64, 10.09 and 8.91 respectively. McIntosh also went on to compete in the 200m where she ran 30.04, a personal best.
