Women's Indoor Track & Field hosts Red, White, and Blue Track Classic

(Ypsilanti, MI) Cardinals women's track and field hosted their first ever indoor track & field meet Friday at Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti, MI. Concordia posted impressive meet results including an NCCAA qualifier and a new school record while competing at the Red, White, and Blue Track Classic. 

 

Graduate student Gabriela Porter (Quincy, MI) kicked off the night's success with a time of 2:30.07 in the 800m and qualifying for the National Christian College Athletic Association championships. Porter also went on to run the 4x800 relay with teammates Chloe Gunter (Monroe, MI), Elizabeth Trent (Saginaw, MI), and  Lydia Schroeder (Napoleon, OH). The relay team crossed the line in a finishing time of 11:29.51. Senior Liz Trent crossed the finish at 12:02.40 in the 3,000m, a personal best time in this event. Fellow senior Lydia Schroeder ran in the 1,000m race and Gunter ran 6:25.41 in the mile. Junior Sierra Stechebar (Rockford, MI) rounded out the track results with a 400m time of 1:08.75. Stechebar also cleared 1.50m in the high jump and took on a new event in the triple jump, jumping 9.33m.

 

On the throws side, freshman Lena Korte (Clinton, MI) brought home a new school record in the weight throw, tossing 13.22m. Korte also threw 10.87m in the shot put. She was joined by Payton Lovins (Wauseon, OH) and Quinn Stefanski (Munger, MI) in the weight throw, throwing 8.67m and 8.43m respectively. Stefanski also tossed 8.43 in the shot put. 

 

The Cardinals resume competition Friday February 11 for a two day meet at the National Christian College Athletic Association championships in Cedarville, OH. Keep up the Cardinals by following the team on social media - CUAAXCTF.
