Women's Indoor Track & Field take on the Wide Track Classic

(Hillsdale, MI) Concordia women's track & field traveled to Hillsdale for the Wide Track Classic hosted by Hillsdale College this Saturday. In a competition full of NCAA DII and DIII competition, the Cardinals had strong performances and a number of personal bests.

 

The women's distance medley relay team took home a 4th place effort and a time of 14:51.38 today. Elizabeth Trent (Senior; Saginaw, MI), Chloe Gunter (Freshman; Monroe, MI), Lydia Schroeder (Senior; Napoleon, OH) and Gabriela Porter (Graduate Student; Quincy, MI) made up the relay team. The ladies also went on to run the 800m as well, with Porter leading the pack and crossing the line at 2:38.93. Trent, Schroeder and Gunter were not far behind and ran 2:49.81, 2:54.36 and 2:55.33, respectively.

 

Sierra Stechebar (Junior; Rockford, MI) debuted in the 400m sprint, running 1:08.76. Stechebar also went on to clear 1.44m in the high jump.

 

Freshman Quinn Stefanski (Munger, MI) highlighted the throws where she tossed 8.93m for her debut in the shot put and threw a personal best of 9.47m in the weight throw. Senior Payton Lovins (Wauseon, OH) also threw in the weight throw for a toss of 7.89m.

Freshman Lena Korte (Clinton, MI) also threw in both events, tossing 11.30m in the shot put and 11.38m in the weight throw.

 

Cardinals track & field resumes competition Friday, February 4, 2022 for the Concordia Red, White and Blue Track Classic hosted at the Lincoln Athletic Building in Ypsilanti. This will be the only home meet for the Cardinals this indoor season. Entrance fee is $5 and can be purchased at the event. For more details, follow the team on social media (CUAAXCTF).
