Women's Outdoor Track & Field competes at Golden Grizzlies Invite

(Rochester Hills, MI) Cardinals track and field took to the track April 8-9, 2022 for the Golden Grizzlies Invite hosted by Oakland University. The NCAA division I meet featured top programs across all NCAA and NAIA divisions. 

 

Concordia posted strong performances in the meet, including a new school record in the discus throw from freshman Julia Hirt (Hartland, WI). Hirt threw a personal best of 38.96m to secure a 6th place finish with the discus and to shatter the former record by more than 2 meters. Fellow freshman thrower Quinn Stefanski (Munger, MI) saw success in the shot put and discus throw with personal best tosses. Stefanski threw 9.31m in the shot put, 27.02m in the discus throw and 23.74m with the hammer. Sophomore Aaliyah McIntosh (Chesterfield, MI) also competed in the shot put where she threw 6.01m. Alyvia Hock (Junior; Manchester, MI) fought winter winds in the discus throw, tossing 20.52m. Senior Hayle Flowers (Waverly, MI) competed in the javelin throw, tossing 25.67m and threw 8.84m in the shot put. Also competing in the javelin was freshman Hailey Stasiukinas (Wyoming, MI). Stasiukinas threw 19.76m with the javelin, and jumped 4.18m in the long jump. Fellow jumper Sierra Stechebar (Rockford, MI) took 5th place in the high jump, clearing 1.45m. Stechebar also jumped 9.40m in the triple jump. 

 

On the track, graduate student Gabriela Porter (Quincy, MI) ran 13:11.49 in the 3,000m steeplechase to punch her return ticket to the National Christian College Athletic Association Championships.  Distance runners Elizabeth Trent (Saginaw, MI) and Chloe Gunter (Monroe, MI) saw personal bests in the 1,500m race with Trent running 5:46.75 and Gunter running 6:00.22. They went on to run in the 800m event together, running 2:56.81 and 3:00.55, respectively.

 

The sprints squad kicked off day two of the meet with a 4x100 relay. Stasiukinas, Emily Belinsky (Senior; Beulah, MI), Hope Renfer (Junior; Northville, MI), Janae Turner (Senior; Eastpoint, MI) ran a time of 54.45. Turner, Belinsky and Renfer also went on to run the 100m dash. The trio crossed the line in times of 14.12, 14.15, and 14.39, respectively. Belinsky closed out the meet with a 200m sprint in a time of 28.76, a personal best for her.
