(Adrian, MI) Concordia women's track & field competed Thursday at the Don Kleinow Invitational hosted by Seina Heights University. Concordia finished 12th out of 17 teams and came home with several National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) qualifying marks and personal best times.
Junior Sierra Stechebar (Rockford, MI) set the bar with a strong performance in the women's high jump, clearing 1.45m and jumping 9.95m in the triple jump for a 7th place finish, personal best jump and NCCAA qualifying mark.
Also punching her ticket to NCCAAs was senior Hayle Flowers (Waverly, MI). Flowers threw the javelin 30.29m for a new personal best mark and a 4th place finish. Fellow throwers Quinn Stefanski (Munger, MI) and Hailey Stasiukinas (Wyoming, MI) also saw personal best throws. Stenfanski threw 28.77m in the hammer throw and 9.55m in the shot put, personal bests in both events. Stasiukinas added three meters to her personal best, throwing 25.18m with the javelin. She also jumped 3.75m in the long jump.
On the track side, senior Elizabeth Trent (Saginaw, MI) pushed the 1,500m race to a new personal best, running 5:40.27. Trent went on to compete in the 800m, running 2:52.04, with Chloe Gunter (Freshman; Monroe, MI) who ran 2:53.41. Gunter crossed the 1,500m finish line in a time of 6:00.54, with teammate Lydia Schroeder (Senior; Napolean, OH) running 5:52.62. Graduate student Gabriela Porter (Quincy, MI) took 6th in the 1,500m with a time of 5:20.38.
Running the 4x100 relay was Stasiukinas, Hope Renfer (Junior; Northville, MI), Emily Belinsky (Senior; Beulah, MI) and Janae Turner (Senior; Eastpoint, MI). The foursome finished 4th in a time of 54.73. Renfer and Belinsky also ran the 100m and 200m dashes together. Belinsky and Renfer saw personal bests in the 200m dash where they ran 27.70 and 28.75, respectively. The duo also ran 13.67 and 14.40 in the 100m dash.
