Baseball set to face UNOH and Indiana Tech in opening round of WHAC tournament

(Ft. Wayne, Ind.) The Concordia baseball team closed out their regular season winning five out of the last six games. The Cardinals swept Siena Heights last Saturday (Apr. 27) before splitting with Lourdes on Sunday (Apr. 28). After finishing the regular season 34-16 and 14-8 in conference play, Concordia has earned a 4-seed in the WHAC tournament.

The Cardinals will now travel down to Ft. Wayne, Ind. for the opening round of the WHAC tournament to take on No. 5 seed UNOH. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. on Friday (May 3) at Warrior Field. Concordia will then take on top-seeded Indiana Tech in game two of the double-elimination tournament.

Northwestern Ohio finished the regular with an 18-25-1 record and 13-9 in conference play. The Racers split a doubleheader with Lawrence Tech on Sunday (Apr. 28) to close out the regular season. Leading UNOH at the plate is Michael Knollman who is hitting .356 including 53 hits and 34 RBI's. Olivier Mailloux leads the Racers in innings pitched with 37.2 and has an ERA of 1.67 and 25 strikeouts.

Indiana Tech has won seven of their last eight games, recently sweeping Cleary in a doubleheader on Sunday (Apr. 28). The Warriors were crowned WHAC regular season champions after finishing the regular season with an overall record of 33-14-1 and 17-4-1 in conference play. Glen McClain led Indiana Tech at the plate this season hitting .435 including 73 hits and 15 home runs. Charles Dunavan saw the most time on the mound Warriors tallying 58.2 innings pitched and has an ERA of 2.61 with 71 strikeouts.
