Victor Diaz named NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week

NCCAA RELEASE

(Greenville, SC) The National Christian College Athletic Association announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon and Victor Diaz (SR/Guarenas, Venezuela ) was named baseball's division one offensive player student-athlete of the week. Diaz's recognition comes on the heels of the Cardinals weekend sweep over Wright State-Lake.

Victor Diaz was Coach Johnston's leadoff spot for most of the weekend and the senior made the most of the opportunity. Diaz hit safely in every game resulting in 10 total hits at 15 at bats. Diaz also paced the team with nine funs and four RBI over the four game stretch. The senior recorded an on base percentage of .688 and a slugging percentage of 1.133.

The Cardinals benefited from Diaz's efforts the most in game three of the series when he went 3-3 with one home run, two runs, and three RBIs while also stealing a base. Diaz was equally as versatile on the defensive side making contributions at shortstop and third base.

This is the first time in Diaz's Cardinal career that he has been named the student-athlete of the week by the NCCAA. It is also the first time a Cardinal baseball player has been recognized this year as well.

The Cardinals will look to resume action this weekend in Portsmouth, OH against Shawnee State University.
