Milheim and Steinborn named NAIA All-America Honorable Mention

(Kansas City, MO) Concordia senior Blaine Milheim added yet another accolade to his impressive resume as he was named an Honorable Mention All-America selection by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches' Association All-America Committee on Tuesday. Milheim was joined by Junior Grant Steinborn on the Honorable Mention list for their outstanding 2019 seasons as Cardinals.


Milheim made his mark on the Concordia record books, but has also proven to be one of the top players in the NAIA as well. His 2019 campaign put him at the the top of many statistics in the NAIA, highlighted by leading the nation in batting average. With an average of .482, Milheim was .024 ahead of the second best hitter in the NAIA. Not only did the center fielder lead the nation in hitting, but Milheim was third in stolen bases as he swiped 39 bags throughout 2019. The Senior was seventh in the NAIA in total hits with 92 and 23rd in runs scored with 65.


Grant Steinborn was also named NAIA Honorable Mention for his efforts on the mound and at the plate. Steinborn finished within the top 40 in both wins and Earned Run Average as he secured 9 wins for the Cards (34th in NAIA) and kept a 2.63 ERA (36th in NAIA). When batting, Steinborn hit for .333 while collecting 19 runs, 44 RBIs, 26 walks, and 5 home runs.


Both Milheim and Steinborn are first time nominees and join Jake Pawlak (2003) and Steve Hardin (2005) as the only Cardinals in program history to do so.
