Gabe Whitmore named MSFA Player of the Week; Aaron Rahn wins NCCAA Student Athlete of the Week

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) and National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced their weekly player of the week recipients on Monday afternoon and two different Cardinals earned various Player of the Week honors. Gabe Whitmore was named MSFA Defensive Player of the Week and Aaron Rahn was given NCCAA Defensive Player of the Week honors.

 

 

Sophomore Safety Gabe Whitmore won MSFA Player of the Week honors after bringing down two interceptions against Roosevelt, including one near the Cardinal end zone. Whitmore added in 6 tackles on the day as well. This is now the second time Whitmore has been named MSFA Player of the Week in his young career after earning the title after his interception at Taylor last spring.

 

Graduate student Aaron Rahn was named NCCAA Defensive Student Athlete of the Week for the second time in as many seasons after leading the Cardinals in tackles and tackles for loss. Rahn was all over the field against the Roosevelt Lakers, contributing to the Cardinal defense that only allowed 26 rushing yards on 33 attempts. 

 

Whitmore joins Andrew Foerster and Gavin Brooks as the Cardinals to receive MSFA recognition this season. Rahn is joined by Casey Rauch and Brooks on the NCCAA side of the honors.

 

 

The Cardinals will have a bye week this Saturday before hosting Indiana Wesleyan on October 2nd. Kick off is set for 1:00 PM at Ferry Field at Cardinal Stadium.
