Cardinals earn thirteen All-MSFA Mideast selections

MSFA RELEASE

The Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League announced their season awards on Monday. Thirteen Cardinals were recognized by the conference with five Cardinals earning First Team honors.

Leading off the Cardinal First Team honorees is tight end Luke Wilson, earning his second consecutive First Team selection. The senior was among the top receivers in the MSFA as a tight end, with 397 yards (2nd among tight ends) and 4 receiving touchdowns (tied for most among tight ends). On top of being a sure handed pass catcher, Wilson was just as effective as a blocker, helping the Cardinal running game throughout the season.

Nathan Roehr joined Wilson on First Team as a Junior Offensive Lineman. The left guard has started in every game for the Cardinals this season and the last. Roehr anchored the Cardinal offensive line that put up the second most points in the MSFA this season.

Hunter Maynard also earned First Team honors as a linebacker, following up his Honorable Mention last season. Maynard was named Defensive Player of the Week three consecutive weeks in a row and is second in the MSFA Mideast in tackles with 95. He led all linebackers in the conference in interceptions (2) and fumble recoveries (2).

Gerald McHenry, Jr. earned his way onto the First Team as a Cornerback. McHenry led the conference in interceptions and interception return yards with 5 picks for 117 yards. The Cleveland native broke up 8 passes on the year, which was second highest in the MSFA Mideast. The junior accumulated 42 tackles throughout the season as well.

Rounding out the Cardinals' First Team selections was punter Casey Rauch. Rauch was named to the Second Team last season, but worked his way to First Team honors in 2021. Named MSFA Mideast Player of the Week in mid-September, Rauch would go on to lead the conference in yards per punt (44.9) and was second in punts placed inside the 20 yard-line (31).

Wide Receiver Parker Graham was named to the MSFA Mideast Second Team for the second season in a row after coming in sixth in the conference in receiving yards (487) and fifth in receiving touchdowns (6). The quarterback turned wide receiver also played a fair share of snaps at running back, averaging 4.6 yards per carry.

Will Dowling played his way onto the Second Team after his second year as the Cardinals' Right Guard. Will started every game this season for the Cardinals.

Gabe Dowling also received Second Team honors in his second year at Left Tackle for Concordia. Gabe has started in every game for the past two seasons.

Andrew Foerster makes a repeat appearance on the Second Team for the Cardinals after a dominant year on the Cardinal defensive line. Foerster led the MSFA in sacks with 9 and was fourth in the conference with 13.5 tackles for loss. The Defensive End was also named Defensive Player of the Week following his performance at Saint Ambrose.

Casey Rauch earned his first MSFA All-Conference selection as a linebacker on the Second Team this season after being named as a punter in both of his first two seasons. Rauch was fourth in the MSFA Mideast in tackles with 92 and finished in the top-12 in tackles for loss (9.5) and sacks (4.5). He forced and recovered 2 fumbles throughout the season as well.

The Cardinals also placed three players on the Honorable Mention Team as Seeger DeGayner, Aaron Rahn and Corbin Stefanski were all honored.

Seeger Degayner collected the fifth most receiving yards among wide receivers this season in the conference with 643. Degayner also has tallied eight receiving touchdowns on the season which is the fourth best in the conference.

Aaron Rahn tallied the third most tackles throughout the season in the conference with 94 while also making the second highest mark in per game tackles at 10.4. Rahn is also tied for the most fumble recoveries with two and was named Defensive Player of the Week following his game against St. Francis (IN).

Corbin Stefanski totaled 24 tackles on the season, with three sacks and four and a half tackles for loss. His fumble recovery against Roosevelt ultimately sealed the fate of that game.
