Football places seven student-athletes on CoSIDA All-District Team

(Ann Arbor, MI) The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has named their 2021 CoSIDA All-District team for Football on Thursday afternoon and several Cardinals were named to the District 1 team which includes seven student-athletes.

 

Among those that were named were Gabe Dowling, Will Dowling, Andrew Foerster, Corbin Stefanski, Hunter Maynard, Casey Rauch, and Nick Painter

 

Gabe Dowling, a sophomore from Oak Harbor, OH, has played and started all nine games throughout the season. Gabe has been a staple on the offensive line at Left Tackle as he has started all 16 games he has been a part of as a Cardinal. Gabe is studying Nursing and has a cumulative GPA of 3.59.

 

Will Dowling, also a sophomore from Oak Harbor, OH, is another staple on the Cardinal offensive line starting all nine games throughout the season at Right Guard. Playing on the line last year, Will contributed in four games in 2020 as well. Will is studying Special Education and has a 3.73 cumulative GPA. 

 

Heading over to the defensive end, Andrew Foerster, a senior from Swartz Creek, MI, has been named to the All-District team for the third consecutive season after being named in both 2019 and 2020. This season Foerster has collected 32 tackles and leads the team in sacks with 8.5. Foerster is a Secondary Education major with a cumulative GPA of 3.50.

 

Another mainstay on the defensive line has been Corbin Stefanski, a senior from Munger, MI. Stefanski has been able to tally 23 tackles and 3 sacks throughout all nine games this season. As an Exercise Science major, Stefanski has recorded a 3.80 cumulative GPA.

 

Hunter Maynard, a senior from Plain City, OH, was named to the All-District team for the second season in a row. Additionally, Maynard is second on the team in total tackles throughout the year with 84. He also has collected 3.5 sacks and 2 interceptions on the season. Maynard is a Elementary Education major that has accumulated a 3.71 GPA throughout the last couple years. 

 

Casey Rauch, a sophomore from Alexandria, KY, currently is the leading punter in the NAIA as he is averaging 45.3 yards per punt this season while getting 28 of his punts downed inside the 20. Aside from his kicking duties, Rauch leads the team with 86 total tackles with 9.5 coming for a loss. Rauch is a Nursing major who has collected a 3.57 GPA. 

 

Nick Painter, a junior from Garden City, MI, is named to the All-District team for the second year in a row while being a crucial part throughout the last three seasons as the Cardinals long snapper. This season he has been able to tally 4 tackles. Throughout his three years he has played in 25 games. Painter is an Athletic Training major who has accumulated a 3.85 GPA. 

 

Nominees for the All-District team must have participated in at least 50% of the teams matches throughout the season while also maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.30. The student-athlete must also complete one full calendar year at the institution and reach sophomore athletic eligibility in order to qualify for the honor.

 

All seven Cardinals will now be placed on the ballot for CoSIDA All-America consideration with those teams being released in mid-December.
