(Ann Arbor, MI) - CUAA men's lacrosse is hard at work preparing to begin their 2025 season. The Cardinals will look to build off back-to-back WHAC regular season championships and NAIA Nationals appearances. The team enters the year ranked #8 in the NAIA Coaches poll. Head coach Ty McGuire will be entering his seventh season at the helm of the program.
2024 Season Review
CUAA finished 12-5 overall last year with a perfect 8-0 WHAC conference record. The team featured an explosive offense while topping three ranked teams. The Cardinals advanced to the WHAC championship game, falling 12-11 in overtime in a close match again Indiana Tech. The team received an at-large bid to NAIA Nationals and fell to the eventual national champion Keiser in the first round.
2025 Schedule Outlook
CUAA will face #3 Reinhardt on February 8that noon to open their season. The Cardinals will stay on the road to face #3 Cumberlands the following day. The team will play road contests against #2 Webber International and Tennessee Wesleyan to round out the month.
The Cardinals play one more road match against Columbia on March 16th. CUAA will hold their home opener on Saturday March 26th when they host #5 William Penn at 4pm. The team concludes the month by starting WHAC play at #6 Indiana Tech.
The month of April starts with home games against #7 Aquinas and rival (RV) Siena Heights. After traveling to Taylor, the team returns home to host (RV) University of Michigan-Dearborn. The Cardinals then travel to #10 Madonna University and wrap up the regular season by hosting (RV) Lawrence Tech.
CUAA PERSONNEL
Seniors: Andrew Simmons had 35 goals and 11 assists last season. Travis Wright notched 29 goals with 19 assists. Aldo Mejia-Hans had eight goals and four assists. Jeff Harrison had two assists with 28 ground balls. Matthew Mahoney recorded eight ground balls. Sean Stone and Richard Johnson recorded five and three ground balls respectively. Patrick Broderick picked up two ground balls. Erik Takle-Flach, Marcus Villagomez and Nick Bradford provide experienced depth for the team.
Juniors: Cooper Regimbal recorded 34 goals with six assists. Ryan Davis notched 24 goals with 12 assists. Spencer Guppy scored 22 goals with 15 assists. Cross Papadelis recorded five goals and five assists. Ross Preston had four goals and six assists last year. Gavin Scally had four goals and two assists. Michael Hart had four ground balls.
Sophomores: Josh Dues racked up 27 ground balls. Conor Przybylo recorded eight ground balls. Dane Kieninger had six ground balls. Goalie Conor Kinsey picked up one win with 11 saves.
Newcomers: The Cardinals have added one newcomer to the team this year, freshman Mason Blow.
