(Westfield, IN) - #8 CUAA men's lacrosse faced #2 Webber International at a neutral site on Thursday morning. The Cardinals kept the contest close in the first half but Webber International pulled away for a 19-12 win.
Connor Kinsey played a complete game in net with 13 saves. Webber International scored first but Spencer Guppy countered with an assisted goal. The Cardinals took a 3-2 lead after goals by Ryan Davis and Andrew Simmons. Webber International briefly surged back in front but Cooper Regimbal tied the game 4-4 with a goal in the last 13 seconds to end the quarter.
Spencer Guppy and Cross Papadelis tallied to give CUAA a 6-4 lead. Webber International retook the advantage with a 4-0 run, but Ross Preston ended the run with Travis Wright assisting. CUAA trailed 10-7 at halftime.
Webber International scored first in the third quarter. The Cardinals pulled closer with a 3-0 run on goals by Andrew Simmons, Travis Wright and Cooper Regimbal. Webber International countered with a 4-0 run and led 15-10 after the third quarter.
Travis Wright added two more goals in the fourth quarter to complete his hat trick. However, the Cardinals were not able to come back and fell 19-12.
CUAA will travel to Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday, February 22nd, for a noon game.
