(Upland, IN) - CUAA men's lacrosse traveled to Taylor University on Wednesday afternoon for a WHAC contest. After trailing 9-5 at halftime, the Cardinals used a strong second half to claim a 13-11 victory.
Joseph Loria started in goal, recording 11 saves. Cooper Regimbal opened scoring off an assist from Ross Preston. After Taylor tied the game 1-1, Travis Wright recorded a power-play goal to put the Cardinals back on top. Taylor responded with two goals, but Cooper Regimbal tied the game 3-3 with a marker in the last 16 seconds of the quarter.
Taylor had two goals to open the second quarter. Travis Wright tallied and Cooper Regimbal finished his hat trick later in the quarter. However, CUAA trailed 9-5 at halftime.
Travis Wright put together a natural hat trick in the third quarter as the Cardinals began to rally. CUAA shut out Taylor in the frame and only trailed 9-8 after the third quarter.
Cooper Regimbal tied the game 9-9 early in the fourth quarter. Conor Kinsey played the final 8:16 in net, making one save and earning the win. After Taylor briefly took the lead, Gavin Scally countered with a shorthanded goal. Cooper Regimbal notched two more markers to put the Cardinals into the lead for the first time since the first quarter. Regimbal capped scoring with his seventh marker of the game at the 1:25 mark and CUAA secured a 13-11 victory.
CUAA will return home this Saturday, April 12th, to host University of Michigan – Dearborn for a 2pm game.
