(Ann Arbor, MI) - CUAA men's lacrosse hosted rival Siena Heights on Saturday afternoon for a WHAC game. The Cardinals surged ahead in the second quarter and maintained their lead for a 19-9 victory.
Joseph Loria started the game in net, making 14 saves. Cooper Regimbal and Andrew Simmons scored early to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead. Siena Heights pulled ahead with four straight markers, but Andrew Simmons countered with two goals to tie the game and earn his hat trick. Siena Heights led 5-4 after the first quarter.
Ross Preston started a 5-0 run with a goal to tie the game early in the second quarter. Travis Wright notched a go-ahead marker and Spencer Guppy found the back of the net. Andrew Simmons and Cooper Regimbal recorded power-play goals to finish the run. CUAA led 9-6 at halftime.
Ross Preston and Travis Wright notched their second goals of the game early in the third quarter. Ryan Davis also tallied to extend the lead. Andrew Simmons notched his fifth marker later on and CUAA led 13-8 after the third quarter.
Cooper Regimbal scored twice in the fourth quarter to complete his hat trick. The Cardinals found success on the power play with Ross Preston and Travis Wright finishing their own hat tricks. Conor Kinsey played the last 8:33 in the net, making two saves. Travis Wright and Cross Papadelis rounded out the scoring to secure the 19-9 victory.
CUAA men's lacrosse will travel to Taylor University this Wednesday, April 9th, for a 1pm contest.
