Men's Lacrosse pulls away from Columbia for 21-14 victory

(Westfield, IN) - CUAA men's lacrosse faced off against Columbia Friday afternoon at a neutral site.  The Cardinals steadily worked to build a lead and secured a 21-14 victory. 

 

Conor Kinsey played a complete game in net with 16 saves.  The Cardinals took an early 2-0 lead on a pair of goals by Cooper RegimbalAndrew Simmons also scored with Ryan Davis assisting as the teams traded goals.  Columbia made a late 4-0 run and led 5-3 after the first quarter. 

 

Columbia scored to open the second quarter, but Cooper Regimbal finished his hat trick to start a 6-0 run.  Andrew Simmons notched a powerplay marker and Travis Wright tied the game off a feed from Simmons.  Cooper Regimbal then scored his fourth goal to put the Cardinals ahead.  Ryan Davis and Travis Wright also recorded unassisted goals and CUAA led 9-8 at halftime. 

 

Travis Wright completed his hat trick to open the third quarter and started another 6-0 Cardinal run.  Josh Dues tallied and Cooper Regimbal scored again.  Spencer Guppy got on the scoresheet and Cooper Regimbal notched his sixth goal of the game.  Aldo Mejia-Hans capped the rally and Spencer Guppy scored his second goal with eight seconds left. CUAA led 16-9 after the third quarter. 

 

Cooper Regimbal recorded his team-high seventh goal with a powerplay marker early in the fourth quarter.  Andrew Simmons finished his hat trick and Marcus Villagomez also scored.  Ross Preston tallied and Spencer Guppy finished his hat trick as well.  CUAA claimed a 21-14 victory as time expired. 

 

CUAA men's lacrosse will hold their home opener on Saturday, March 22nd, when they host #7 William Penn at 4pm.
