(Fort Wayne, IN) - CUAA men's lacrosse traveled to #4 Indiana Tech in a rematch of last year's WHAC championship game. The Cardinals started strong in the first half and then held off a late Warrior rally to claim a 15-12 victory.
Joseph Loria played a complete game in net with 33 saves. The Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals by Andrew Simmons, Spencer Guppy and Cooper Regimbal. Indiana Tech broke the shutout, but CUAA started another 3-0 run. Travis Wright notched an unassisted marker and Cooper Regimbal and Spencer Guppy each scored their second goal of the game. CUAA led 6-1 after the first quarter.
Andrew Simmons scored on the power play to begin the second quarter. Ryan Davis found the back of the net and Travis Wright recorded two power play goals to complete his hat trick. CUAA held a 10-2 advantage at halftime.
Indiana Tech began to rally with four unanswered goals in the third quarter. The Cardinals responded with a 3-0 run in which Andrew Simmons and Spencer Guppy finished their hat tricks. CUAA maintained a 13-6 lead after the third quarter.
Indiana Tech scored twice to start the fourth quarter. Cooper Regimbal ended their run with two goals to compete his own hat trick. Indiana Tech tightened the game with four more goals down the stretch, but the Cardinals held strong and secured a 15-12 victory.
CUAA will return home this Wednesday, April 2nd, to host Aquinas at 4pm.
