Men's Lacrosse downs #7 William Penn 16-12

(Ann Arbor, MI) - CUAA men's lacrosse hosted #7 William Penn on a chilly Saturday afternoon.  The Cardinals maintained a steady lead and secured a 16-12 victory. 

 

Joseph Loria played a complete game in net with 21 saves.  Ryan Davis opened scoring with an unassisted marker.  After William Penn tied the game, Cooper Regimbal scored a pair of goals both assisted by Spencer GuppyTravis Wright tacked on a power play goal and CUAA led 4-2 after the first quarter. 

 

William Penn tied the game 4-4 early in the second quarter.  The Cardinals countered with a 4-0 run starting with a goal by Spencer GuppyRoss Preston found the back of the net and Guppy notched his second marker.  Travis Wright capped the run with a goal and CUAA held an 8-6 lead at halftime. 

 

Travis Wright finished his hat trick to start the third quarter.  William Penn trimmed the lead to just one goal, but Gavin Scally answered with an unassisted marker.  Cooper Regimbal then finished his hat trick with a goal on the power play. Travis Wright recorded his fourth marker and Spencer Guppy completed his hat trick with 12 seconds to play.  CUAA led 13-9 after the third quarter. 

 

William Penn tightened the game slightly with two goals to start the fourth quarter.  Ryan Davis countered with a goal on the fast break and Andrew Simmons also tallied. Simmons recorded a power play goal to wrap up scoring in the game and CUAA claimed a 16-12 victory. 

 

CUAA will travel to Indiana Tech next Saturday, March 29th, for a 7pm game.
