Women's Bowling 4th at WHAC Championships; VanHorn named Bowler of the Year

(Fort Wayne, IN) - The Women's Bowling team headed to Indiana for the second straight weekend, this time playing as they would play for the WHAC Championships on Saturday. The format would feature 20 baker games being played and then the tournament would shift to a 4-team playoff bracket. 

 

BAKER PLAY

The Cardinals would finish the 20 baker games in fourth place. The Cards would hit a total of 3528 pins that would average out to 176.4 pins per game. They would finish 359 pins back of first place Indiana Tech. 

 

BRACKET PLAY

Bracket play consisted of the top four teams facing off against one another with 1 against 4 and 2 verse 3, in a best-of-5 series. Being the fourth seed, the Cardinals would face off against the top-seeded Warriors. CUAA would fall in the first three games to take home a fourth-place finish at the tournament. 

 

WHAC HONORS

The WHAC also released the postseason honors for the conference and was headlined by Gabriella VanHorn who was named Bowler of the Year and to the All-Conference First Team after averaging 190.88 pins at the four WHAC Jamborees of the season. Also named to one of the teams was Emilee Hughes as she was put on the Second Team All-Conference after having a 181.5 pin average. 

 

Five Cardinals were named to the WHAC All-Academic Team with Alyvia Hock, Amanda Fisher, Gabriella VanHorn, Karissa Chibbaro, and Shannon Lewan all hit the qualifications of 3.25 GPA and being a Junior in Academic standing. 

 

Kara Ward was also recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. She was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

 

JV RESULTS

The JV women's team also competed at the WHAC Tournament in the JV Division. The team would take home the championship title as they won over Lawrence Tech in 4 games with a score of 3-1. The team included Kara Ward, Ashley Kreger, Bailey Tomlin, Arielle Oakley, and Emily Morris. The JV ladies led the 20-game qualifier by over 150+ pins.

The Bowling team will head to the ISC and ITC sectionals on March 10-12.
