Women's Tennis defeats Grace Christian; falls to Anderson

(Grandville, MI) Concordia Women's Tennis traveled to Grace Christian for a pair of matches on Friday. The first match was against Grace Christian, followed by a match against Anderson University. The Cardinals took down the Tigers from Grace Christian 6-3, and then dropped their match against the Anderson Ravens 8-1.

 

 

Match 1: Concordia 6, Grace Christian 3

The Cardinals won all three doubles matches over Grace Christian. Elle Fritcha and Hollie Johnson won #1 Singles by a score of 8-5. Jadyn Hackmann and Payton Woodruff won their #2 Singles match 8-2, and Makayla Steinmetz and Amelia Black took #3 Singles 8-4.

 

Elle Fritcha won #1 Singles (6-1, 6-1), as well as Jadyn Hackmann at #3 Singles (6-4, 6-2), and Payton Woodruff in the #5 slot (6-0, 3-6, 10-6). Hollie Johnson narrowly lost in her #2 Singles match (4-6, 6-7). Makayla Steinmetz and Sydney Orkisz both took five games in their #4 and #6 Singles matches respectively.

 

Match 2: Concordia 1, Anderson 8

In the second match of the day, the Ravens swept the Cardinals in doubles. Elle Fritcha and Hollie Johnson took three games in #1 Doubles, Jadyn Hackmann and Makayla Steinmetz took two games in the second slot, and Jorja Vartoogian and Melanie Foucha were swept in the #3 Doubles match.

 

Elle Fritcha earned the sole point for the Cardinals with her win at #1 Singles (6-4, 6-2). Hollie Johnson took four games at #2 Singles while Jadyn Hackmann had five in #3 Singles. Makayla Steinmetz took a game in # 4 Singles, Amelia Black was shut out in the fifth slot, and Payton Woodruff took three games in #6 Singles.

 

 

Next up the Cardinals will travel to Franklin College on Friday, April 14th for a non-conference match.
