Fritcha and Black lead Women's Tennis to second place finish at Olivet Singles Invitational

(Battle Creek, MI) Concordia Women's Tennis closed out their regular season at the Olivet Singles Invitational on Saturday. The Cardinals were the runners up in the invitational with Elle Fritcha and Amelia Black winning their individual tournaments.

 

 

Elle Fritcha was dominant playing in the #1 Singles flight, sweeping her Olivet opponent and only dropping a single game against Grace Christian on the way to the #1 Singles title.

 

In the second flight, Jadyn Hackmann won a close 8-7 match over Olivet before falling to Grace Christian (7-5, 6-1).

 

Payton Woodruff won her #3 match versus Olivet 8-4, but dropped a close match to Grace Christian (1-6, 6-0, 10-4).

 

Sydney Orkisz was victorious over Olivet in an 8-5 match before falling to Grace Christian (6-1, 6-2).

 

Amelia Black won the #5 flight overall with an 8-2 match over Olivet and three set win over Grace Christian (6-2, 4-6, 10-7).

 

Jorja Vartoogian won her #6 matchup against Olivet in three sets (6-0, 8-10, 10-7) and was swept against the Tigers.

 

 

The Cardinals will now enter postseason play as the #7 seed in the WHAC. They will square off against #2 Indiana Tech in the WHAC Quarterfinals on Friday, April 28th, at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Maumee, Ohio.
