(Ann Arbor, MI) Concordia Baseball welcomed Indiana Tech to town on Wednesday afternoon for the final regular season games at Cardinal Field. The Cardinals fell in game one, 4-0, but were resilient and bounced back for a big 15-7 win in game two. This Cardinals team set two more records today as their 21-1 record on Cardinal Field this season is both the best winning percentage at home in program history as well as the most single season wins on Cardinal Field in program history!
Game 1: Concordia 0 - Indiana Tech 4
Trey Acker started on the mound for CUAA in game one. The junior went 4.2 innings pitched allowing just three earned runs. Kenneth (Dave) Rozmys followed in relief with 2.1 innings pitched, allowing one earned run.
Indiana Tech's Jordan Mallott hit two solo home runs to score the first two runs of the game for the Warriors. A sac fly in the fifth inning and another home run in the sixth inning gave the Warriors what they needed to win the first game of the four game series. The Cardinals threatened in several innings and were able to scatter six hits, but it was not enough and they were shut out for the first time this season.
Game 2: Concordia 15 - Indiana Tech 7
Logan Morris got things started on the mound for the Cardinals in game two. They senior went four strong innings for the Cardinals, leaving with the lead. Bryon Mane pitched the next three innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out two. Blake Weaver came on for the final two innings, allowing zero runs and picking up his fifth save of the season.
Indiana Tech hit a two run double in the first inning to take an early lead. In the bottom of the first, Jake Kuhlman was able to score on a wild pitch to make the score 2-1. A two-RBi single from Josh Burke and a three-run home run from Tyler Wressel in the second inning flipped the momentum and put the Cardinals up 6-2.
In the top of the fourth inning the Warriors hit a three run home run to put the score within one. The fifth inning saw Logan Hylek get things started by scoring on a wild pitch. Back to back home runs from Jake Kuhlman and Derek Hebner then brought in four more runs and put CUAA up six. The Warriors scored one run in the sixth and seventh innings to bring the score to 7-11. A two-RBI double from Tyler Lawson and a Justin Kozlowski RBI single put CUAA up 15-7, and Blake Weaver held it down in the ninth inning to bring the series to a 1-1 split after two games.
The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday as they head to Fort Wayne, Indiana to wrap up the four game series with the Warriors!
