Cheer takes first and second place at pair of Wildcat Invites

(Marion, IN) Concordia Cheer returned to action Friday and Saturday for a pair of competitions at Indiana Wesleyan. The Cardinals posted their highest score of the season to win the first comp, and took second place in the second comp.

IWU Wildcat Invite #1 – 89.80 – 1st of 10 Teams

Concordia won the Friday evening comp by more than four points over the second place University of the Cumberlands. The Cards scored 9 points or higher in several categories including Standing Tumbling, Running Tumbling, and Overall Difficulty. A deduction free performance allowed the Cardinals to score their best score of the season, 89.80.

IWU Wildcat Invite #2 – 87.23 – 2nd of 15 Teams

The Cards came back Saturday and continued to excel in both Standing and Running Tumbling, receiving scores of 9 or better in both again. They were able to get their Jumps score over a 9 as well, but dropped slightly in Overall Execution, as their score went down a hair compared to the day prior. Concordia posted another deduction free performance as they finished in 2nd place, around two and a half points behind the hosts Indiana Wesleyan, who won the comp.

"This week we had our mind locked in on three key goals and those goals were accomplished," said Head Assistant Coach Shanitra Cheff. "After a strong day one performance this team came back on day two ready to make the necessary corrections that officials were looking for. Despite an imperfect routine on day two, the core elements we have been hoping to elevate were gained. This group of men and women are excellent display of accountability and versatility."

"We look forward to another strong week of preparation as we shift our focus toward the Cardinal Invite on Saturday the 17th in our home gym. We will be honoring our 2024 seniors and the legacy they have upheld during their time at CUAA."

The Cardinals are set to host the Cardinal Invite at 2:00 PM in the Cardinal Fieldhouse on Saturday February 17th.
