Cheer flies high at home with first place finish at Cardinal Invite

(Ann Arbor, MI) Concordia Cheer hosted their first home meet of the season, after their first was cancelled due to inclement weather in January. The Cardinals were the first team to perform, and set the bar high, winning the event with a score of 79.85.

Concordia received marks of 8 or higher from all three of the panel officials in standing tumbling, jumps, showmanship, and difficulty. The Cardinals had a subtotal of 81.10, but 1.25 points in deduction brought them down to 79.85. The score was nearly a point and a half clear of Siena Heights in second place and just under four points ahead of Marian in third.

"As coaches, we are very proud to see the character that these athletes continue to display and their dedication to stay focused on our mission and goals," said Head Assistant Coach Shanitra Cheff. "Each week our mindset stays fixed on advancing to postseason. However, today we are just privileged to be a part of their journey. Tonight, we will rest and tomorrow we will be back to work."

The Cardinals will be at Aquinas on Sunday, February 23rd for the Saints Showdown at 11:20 AM.
