Concordia outshot by Wolverines, 59-72

(Ann Arbor, MI) Concordia came into Tuesday's matchup against UM-Dearborn following a pair of losses to Taylor and Lawrence Tech. The Cardinals fought hard to come back from large deficits in both halves, but in the end were not able to overcome the Wolverines with a final score of 59-72.

UM-Dearborn shot out of the gates with vengeance, gaining an early 14 point advantage over the Cardinals due to extremely efficient shooting from all areas of the floor. Concordia was able to claw their way back into the game by making 100% of their free throw attempts and finding points in the paint via Paul Zysk and Colton Ritsema. It was a combination of Jerald Booker, Greg Alexander, and Tyler Black who continued to lay on the Wolverines in the scoring department and bringing the Cardinals within three by halftime.

The game was brought to a one point margin early in the second half when Booker put in a bucket followed by Zysk backing down his defender and laying it in. That one point difference quickly evaporated as Concordia committed several turnovers and failed to stop the Wolverines defensively. The Wolverine lead grew to 19 as the Cards were limited to just 4 points in the first eight minutes of the half. Booker proved to be Concordia's only form of offense after the long drought as he scored 5 points quickly, including a three from well beyond the arc. Bernard Kasanda drained a triple from the corner to pull the game within 11, where it stayed for much of the game. The final score would end at 59-72, in favor of the Wolverines.

Next up for Concordia will be a road game against Great Lakes Christian College this Saturday. Tip off will be at 3:00 PM in Lansing.
