Men's Basketball falls against Lawrence Tech

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's basketball came back home after Thanksgiving break to host Lawrence Tech in WHAC play.  The Cardinals kept the game in reach for the first half, but the Blue Devils eventually pulled away for an 81-54 win. 

Nate Brighton had a career-high 10 points to lead the team.  Jayden Priddy and Nathan Pickett tied for second with 9 points apiece.  Devyn Jones had a team-high 8 rebounds along with 8 points. 

 

Devyn Jones ended a 6-0 LTU run with a jumper.  Nate Brighton had an early layup and Matt Kohler hit a triple as the teams traded baskets.  Mason Canfield converted inside and Zackary Johnson made a 3-pointer for a 12-11 lead.  Canfield chipped in a 3-pointer as the lead continued to shift with CUAA trailing 19-15 at the midway point. 

Nate Brighton and Jayden Priddy made baskets down the stretch.  Lawrence Tech prompted a Cardinal timeout after taking a 29-19 lead.  Zackary Johnson made a 3-pointer in the last minutes and CUAA trailed 29-22 at halftime. 

 

Matt Kohler hit a shot-clock beating triple early in the second half.  Devyn Jones and Nate Brighton completed a 7-2 run with baskets to cut the deficit to 31-29.  Jones added two free throws and Jayden Priddy made a triple to stay within striking distance. 

Nathan Pickett hit a 3-pointer and Jayden Priddy made a jumper to keep the game close.  However, Lawrence Tech began to convert on their triples to extend their lead.   

Nathan Pickett hit a 3-pointer and converted an "and-1" later in the half to pace the Cardinal offense.  Nate Brighton added two late throws as well to reach his career high.  Lawrence Tech claimed the win as time expired. 

 

Concordia will remain at home this Saturday to host rival Madonna at 3pm.
