Men's Basketball grinds out 73-66 win at Lawrence Tech

(Southfield, MI) – Concordia men's basketball traveled to Lawrence Tech on Monday night in WHAC play.  The Cardinals overcame an 8-point first-half deficit and went on to secure a 73-66 win. 

Jayden Priddy led the team with 18 points.  Matt Lockhart was second with 14 points.  Kip French was third with 13 points.  Zac Clark had a team-high 11 rebounds and 11 points. 

 

Zac Clark opened scoring with a jumper.  Zackary Johnson knocked down a 3-pointer and Matt Lockhart scored a layup as the teams traded leads.  Lockhart drilled a triple and Kip French made two free throws.  Zac Clark converted inside, but LTU surged ahead and led 23-15 at the midway point. 

Jayden Priddy scored the next 6 Concordia points with fast break baskets.  Matt Lockhart and Kip French made baskets and Priddy began a 10-0 run with a deep triple.  Jayden Priddy banked in the game-tying basket, Colton Ritsema scored on the fast break and Matt Lockhart capped the run with a triple.  After a late Zackary Johnson triple CUAA held a 40-33 lead at halftime. 

 

Colton Ritsema made a reverse layup to start the second half.  Matt Lockhart and Zac Clark scored inside, and both Kip French and Clark drained 3-pointers.  A Jayden Priddy layup gave the Cardinals their largest lead with a 54-39 advantage at the 12:10 mark. 

LTU used a 13-1 run to pull within 3 points in the next 3 minutes.  Zackary Johnson ended the run with a triple and Kip French scored inside.  Devyn Jones added a 3-pointer but the game continued to be close into the final minutes. 

LTU trimmed the lead to 65-62 with 1:01 left to play.  Jayden Priddy made a crucial jumper and Matt Lockhart scored a fast break basket to put the game away.  Free throws from Kip French and Priddy secured the 73-66 win. 

 

Concordia will return home this Saturday at 3pm to host Cornerstone.
