Men's Golf hosts the Cardinal Classic

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Men's Concordia Cardinals Golf team hosted their annual Cardinal Classic on Monday and Tuesday at the Washtenaw Golf Club in Ann Arbor. The Cardinals would come away with a 10th-place finish after shooting a 972 over the three-round event. 

 

Taking home the individual championship was Huntington's Peyton Richmond with a 218. The team with the lowest score was also Huntington with a 901. 

 

DAY 1 RECAP

The first day saw teams battle through two rounds throughout the day. The Cardinals themselves shot a 654 on the day which included a 333 and 321. 

 

The 321 is the seventh-lowest 1-round score in program history. 

 

DAY 2 RECAP

The second day saw the third and final round of the tournament. The Cardinals would shoot 318 over the final round, which would bring their total for the round to 972. 

 

The 318 is the fourth-lowest score in program history, while the total score of 972 is the third-lowest. 

 

INDIVIDUAL RECAP

The top finisher for the Cardinals was Cam Barrett who finished in 19th place as he would shoot a 235 score with a low round of 73. Zakary Schroeder, Neil Heinlein, and Gibson Wilke were the next three respectively as they shot 245, 246, and 247. Andrew Sweitzer was the final golfer of the team as he would score a 257. 

 

Three individuals also golfed at the event as Brady Baldwin, Dylan Ladmirault, and Nate Oriel all competed. Their score were 266, 279, and 282 respectively. 

 

Cam Barrett's 73 is tied for the fifth-lowest score in program history and his 235 is the fourth-lowest.

The Cardinals head back to the links next Monday and Tuesday as they will travel to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Fall Preview at Stoatin Brae Golf Club in Augusta, Michigan.
