Men's Golf opens Spring season at the LTU Spring Break Invitational

(Opelika, AL) - The Concordia Cardinal's Men's Golf team opened up the 2023-24 spring season down in Alabama as they competed at the LTU Spring Break Invitational. The event was played at RTJ Golf Trail at Grand National Golf Course and featured the teams competing in three rounds of golf over two days. 

 

The Cardinals would finish in 12th in the tournament with a total score of 994. The 994 is the fourth-lowest team score in program history for the three-round event. 

 

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Neil Heinlein was the top finisher for the Cardinals as he scored 240 with a low of 77. Next up for the Cardinals was Andrew Sweitzer with a 247 and an 81 low score. Cam Barrett was the third Cardinal with a score of 254 and a low of 84. The final two Cardinals who were a part of the team were Zakary Schroeder and Brady Baldwin who totaled scores of 255 and 263 respectively. Schroeder's low was 84 while Baldwin's was 85. 

 

Gibson Wilke competed in the competition as an individual and scored 256 with a low round of 83. 

 

TOURNAMENT RECAP

The host team in Lawrence Tech took the top spot at the tournament by nine strokes as they were +9 over the three rounds. 

 

The top individual spot would go to Brden Bernaldo from Morningside University who finished at -4 for the tournament with a 212.

The Cardinal's next competition will be on April 9 when they travel to the Lourdes Invitational.
