(Goshen, IN) - Concordia men's soccer traveled to Goshen on a hot and humid Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals led 1-0 after the first half of play, but the Maple Leafs rallied for a 4-1 win.
Kyri Wixom played a full game in net with 3 saves. The Cardinals attacked the net early with shots from Marcello Pinterpe and Ignacio Lopez being directed just wide of the net. CUAA broke through in the 17th minute when Bryce Schaner took a cross from Carter Kerbawy and buried it with a powerful shot. Schaner rang a shot off the crossbar as the Cardinals looked to keep the tempo up in the half. CUAA led 1-0 at halftime.
Ignacio Lopez and Bryce Schaner fired shots just wide of the net early in the second half. However, Goshen was able to tie the game in the 52nd minute and added go-ahead goal in the 66th minute.
The Cardinals continued to move the ball around on offense, threatening deep with a blocked shot by Clemens Gehlich and a corner kick from Carter Kerbawy. In the 78th minute, Kyri Wixom made a diving save on a penalty kick but Goshen was able to tap in the rebound. The Maple Leafs added another goal and held on for a 4-1 win.
Concordia will stay on the road when they travel to Kalamazoo College on Saturday August 31st for a 6pm game.
