(Centerville, IN) Concordia Men's Soccer hit the road Saturday afternoon for a non-conference matchup with the Red Wolves of Indiana East. The Cardinals started off hot, but the second half push from the Red Wolves was too much for the Concordia team.
The Cardinals came out of the gates on fire, reaching the back of the net in under three minutes. Junior Elijah Macke had a nice touch to Sophomore Ignacio Lopez for a goal at just the 2:49 mark. Both players had already attempted a goal before this as well, trying to put the pressure on from the beginning. No goals followed for the remainder of the first half, as the cardinal defense combined with Dario Cela's stellar play held strong.
The second half started off with a lot of back-and-forth across the pitch, but just over twenty minutes into the half Indiana East's Marco Cruz knotted the game up at one off a pass from Bawi Ting. Less than six minutes later Marco Cruz found the net again, this time off the boot of Tristan Thomas. Unfortunately the one goal deficit was too much to overcome and the Cardinals fell Saturday afternoon to 2-4.
Men's Soccer returns home this Saturday for a conference matchup against Cornerstone University. The game is set for 2:30pm at Ferry Field at Cardinal Stadium.
