(Livonia, MI) - Concordia men's soccer traveled to #23 Madonna on Saturday afternoon to continue WHAC play. Despite being outshot 28-6 the Cardinals held their own with a ranked opponent, but the team fell by a final score of 2-1.
Dario Cela played a full game in net with six saves. The Cardinals weathered a heavy barrage of 14 shots from Madonna with Cela and multiple defenders making saves in the first half. Bryce Schaner created a promising chance off a free kick. Madonna struck first in the 40thminute, but the Cardinals continued attacking with opposite-side corner kicks from Angel Elizondo and Marlon Rataj. CUAA trailed 1-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Madonna extended their lead with a goal in the 62ndminute. Concordia kept pressure on with Carter Kerbawy taking a shot wide of the net along with a corner kick. The Cardinals broke the shutout in the 83rd minute when Evan Lock blasted a shot in net for an unassisted goal. However, Madonna held on to take the 2-1 win.
CUAA men's soccer will play Wednesday, October 9th, at Defiance College for a 3:30pm game.
