Lena Korte earns WHAC Field Athlete of the Week

(Ann Arbor, MI) – The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced their weekly Players of the Week for Outdoor Track & Field and Concordia Cardinal's Lena Korte took home the honor for the sixth time this year, after having won five in the Indoor season.

Korte, a junior from Clinton, Michigan, participated in three events this past weekend at the Polar Bear Invitational and took home three top-3 finishes. Her best finish was a second-place in the Shot Put where she had a toss of 13.79 meters, which earned her an "A" standard to qualify for the NAIA National Championships in May and is also the 4th-best throw in the NAIA so far this season.

Her other two events were the Hammer Throw and Javelin where she earned third-place finishes in both. In the Hammer Throw, she tossed 43.82 meters which breaks the school record. Her Javelin toss was 33.91 meters. All three marks are NCCAA qualifying marks as well.

The Track and Field team is off until April 6 when they travel to Spring Arbor for the Bill Bippes Cougar Classic.
