Women's Track & Field saw Distance Runners excel on day 2 of Tiffin Carnival

(Tiffin, OH) - The Women's track and field team traveled to Tiffin, Ohio, to compete on Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13, at the Tiffin Track Carnival, hosted by Tiffin University and Heidelberg University. The team faced multiple challenges but persevered and obtained 3 NCCAA qualifiers and personal records.

The meet was highlighted by three NCCAA qualifiers, led by Macee Ripke (Freshman; Napoleon, OH), Amanda Fogo (Sophomore; Fowlerville, MI) and Morgan Jenkins (Sophomore; Cleveland, OH).

Ripke was the first to earn an NCAA qualifying mark Saturday morning by running a new personal best in the 5k and finishing in 20:17. Jenkins added another event to qualify in when she threw 40.26 meters in the Hammer throw. Fogo waited until Sunday morning before her 10k started but ran to a new personal record of 43:55 and earned a qualification time.

The team had four more personal records in throwing events. Quinn Stefanski (Junior; Munger, MI) had a good weekend by earning new personal records in Hammer and Discus. Stefanski threw 40.33 in Hammer and 29.41 meters in discus. Maya Freeman (Freshman; Port Huron, MI) also earned a new personal record in Hammer throw, as she threw 35.05 meters.      

Elizabeth Hines (Freshman; Ypsilanti, MI) had the final personal record on Saturday in the 800, by finishing in 2:43.

The team is looking forward to the Don Kleinow Invite at Siena Heights on Thursday, April 18, and Friday, April 19.
