(Columbia, SC) - The women's track and field team finished the outdoor season at the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championships in Columbia, South Carolina on Thursday, May 9 through Friday, May 10.
The team had seven athletes compete at the championships. Juniors, Lena Korte (Clinton, MI), Quinn Stefanski (Munger, MI), Hailey Stasiukinas (Grand Rapids, MI) and Julie Hirt (Hartland, WI) competed in throwing events; along with Morgan Jenkins (Sophomore; Cleveland, MI) and Christina Smith (Saginaw, MI). Amanda Fogo (Sophomore; Fowlerville, MI) and Macee Ripke (Freshman; Napoleon, OH) competed in distance track events.
Korte defended her shot-put national championship on her final throw with a personal best throw of 14.74 meters. Stefanski also competed in shot put and finished in 16th place with a throw of 10.38 meters.
Hirt followed up her national championship in 2023 with a runner-up, All-American finish in 2024. Hirt had the second-best throw in discus with 39.11 meters.
Korte led Smith and Stasiukinas in javelin results as well. Korte finished in fifth place followed by Smith in 18th and Stasiukinas in 20th.
Jenkins finished as the top Cardinal in hammer throw with a 14th place result by throwing 40.72 meters. She was closely followed by Stefanski with a throw of 40.32 for 16th place.
On the track, Fogo competed Thursday night in the 10k. Where she pushed through for a 9th-place finish. Ripke competed in the 5k on Friday morning and finished in 15th place overall.
The meet concludes the season for the majority of the team. Korte will prepare to return to the NAIA Outdoor National Championships at Indiana Wesleyan on Thursday, May 23.
